After federal courts at every level rejected the U.S. Department of Justice's demand that Riverside County set aside 1,355 mail ballots from alleged noncitizens, the county said segregating those ballots was impossible. Nearly 500,000 ballots countywide remain to be counted.

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 on Oct. 6 to schedule a Nov. 17 public hearing on transferring county easement interests along the Tucalota Channel near Murrieta Hot Springs to the flood control district, a move that will not affect property access.

Murrieta Police arrested 23-year-old Reece Thomas Kennedy on six charges, including forcible rape, after detectives found a second juvenile victim in his vehicle during the arrest. Kennedy is held on $1 million bail.
