Groups wanting to march in Murrieta's 24th Annual Veterans Day Parade can sign up after the city opened registration Tuesday, Sept. 15.
The parade honoring military service members is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 11, stepping off at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Ivy Street. Marchers will turn onto B Street and finish at Town Square Park, next to the Rotary's Field of Honor, according to the city's events calendar.
Local businesses, veteran organizations, schools and community groups are all eligible to participate, the city said, as reported by Patch.
The entry fee is $25 per group.
The parade has been a Murrieta tradition for more than two decades. The city billed the event as its 24th annual, and a 2015 Murrieta city clerk post promoted what was then the 13th annual parade, putting its start around 2003.
Registration is handled through the city's Special Events Division, led by Laura Frasso and Nadine Kotob, according to the city's Special Events page. Groups can sign up at MurrietaCA.gov/Events.
The parade route ends where the 18th annual Murrieta Field of Honor will already be underway. The Rotary Clubs of Murrieta and Old Town Temecula, in partnership with the city, will display more than 2,000 U.S. flags at Town Square Park from Nov. 7 through Nov. 15. The tribute recognizes veterans, active military members, first responders and teachers, according to the Press-Enterprise.
Parade-goers who are not marching can line the route along Washington Avenue and B Street to watch the procession head toward Town Square Park.
