Vista Murrieta hosts Oceanside El Camino at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, in a Week 5 intersectional matchup at Vista Murrieta High School.

The Broncos enter the game coming off a 31-21 road win over Beaumont on Sept. 18, according to the Los Angeles Times. The victory was a Southern Section nonleague contest and gave head coach Coley Candaele's young roster a confidence boost after a 42-21 season-opening loss to Great Oak on Aug. 20.

Youth has been the defining storyline for Vista Murrieta this season. After the Great Oak loss, Candaele told the Valley News the Broncos started three freshmen and eight sophomores, with only five returning players who had seen varsity action.

"We played well for most of the game. We just had a bad four minutes," Candaele said after the Aug. 20 opener, referring to a second-quarter stretch in which Great Oak scored 28 points.

The 31-21 result at Beaumont suggests the Broncos have found their footing since that rough start.

El Camino arrives in Murrieta at 0-4. The Wildcats opened with a 47-3 loss to No. 3-ranked Mission Hills on Aug. 21, a game in which Mission Hills outgained them 435 yards to 86, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. El Camino then fell to Chino Hills 23-10 on Aug. 28, per the Union-Tribune's weekly scores.

The Wildcats' most recent game was a 43-21 loss to Apple Valley on Sept. 18, according to the OC Register.

Friday's game is classified as intersectional, matching a Southern Section team against a San Diego Section opponent. The LA Times Week 5 schedule lists the contest among the intersectional slate.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Vista Murrieta High School.
