Posty runs 14:41, third-fastest in Vista Murrieta history

Zane Posty clocked a 14:41 personal record at the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic on Saturday, Sept. 19. He finished fourth out of 321 runners in his race and moved to third all-time in Vista Murrieta school history.

The performance came at the nation's largest high school cross country meet. The 45th Woodbridge Classic, held Sept. 19–20 at Great Park in Irvine, drew more than 19,500 runners from a record 19 states, according to DyeStat.

Posty was not the only Bronco who ran well. Kaiden Lopez finished eighth out of 321 runners in the same race with a time of 14:57.

On the girls side, Mia Polerecky and Sophia Cole both crossed in 18:07, finishing 19th and 20th out of 270 runners in their race. The Vista Murrieta athletics recap noted the two averaged just over six minutes per mile.

First league wins in volleyball, golf

Vista Murrieta's girls volleyball team opened Southwestern League play with a 3-0 sweep of Great Oak on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Set scores were 25-16, 25-21 and 25-18. All three levels — frosh, JV and varsity — won their matches.

The Broncos then traveled to the Durango Fall Classic on Sept. 18–19, going 2-5 against a field that included nationally ranked 'Iolani of Hawaii (No. 17 nationally) and Mercy Academy of Kentucky (No. 69 nationally). Vista Murrieta picked up 2-1 wins over Village Christian and Moapa Valley of Nevada on Sept. 19.

Girls golf notched its first Southwestern League victory of the season, beating Murrieta Valley 245-284 on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Wren Saithong led the Broncos with a low round of 37. Saithong also shot 79 at the Rainbow Sandals Tournament on Tuesday, Sept. 15, where Vista Murrieta finished 15th out of 22 teams with a score of 506. Iri Chen tied for 25th at the tournament.
